Eleven Twenty Projects welcomes Joshua Tree, CA based artist Blake Baxter to Buffalo, NY to accompany our current exhibition: Points in Time. Please join us Thursday May 2 at 7pm for conversation as Baxter and Buffalo based painter Peter Stephens discuss the beauty of monochrome minimalism and how it applies to their own practices. Eleven Twenty projects will also have extended hours Friday May 3 from 6-9pm for First Friday Gallery walk. Stop by to meet Baxter for your final chance to view all three of our current exhibitions: Blake Baxter: Points in Time in the Main Gallery, Xiao Yang : Autotraumapoeia in the Annex  and Timothy Noble: Hecho en Bogotá / Made in Bogotá in the Front

Peter Stephens is a Buffalo, NY based painter who graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and attended the University of Siena in Italy and Rochester Institute of Technology. Stephens’s paintings use geometric color grids with overlays of a linear matrix derived from the processes that Nature uses to create pattern. He has been featured in solo shows at Nina Freudenheim Gallery (Buffalo), TUB Gallery (Miami), Zolla/Lieberman Gallery (Chicago), R. B. Stevenson Gallery (San Diego), Fenimore Art Museum (Cooperstown, N.Y.), Drabinsky & Friedlan Gallery (Toronto), and Bess Cutler Gallery (New York and Los Angeles), among other venues. Stephens’s work is held in numerous museum collections, including the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, the Burchfield-Penney Art Center, the Castellani Art Museum and the Brooklyn Museum. |

Blake Baxter was born in Los Angeles, and attended UCLA School of the Arts & Architecture before completing his BA in Fine Art at UC Santa Cruz. Baxter is best known for reductive monochromatic paintings incorporating aggregates such as sand and cement. He has exhibited work in Oakland, Tacoma, Seattle, Chicago, Palm Springs, New York City and Los Angeles, and was an exhibiting member of the Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition. He lives today in Joshua Tree, CA.  |
