Buffalo, NY – Argus Gallery and The Black Rock Historical Society are pleased to announce Power & Progress: Buffalo’s Black Rock Lock, a photographic exhibition that includes 19 large photographs taken by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers of the building of the Black Rock Lock. Also included are photographs of the Lock as it is seen today.

Area views from the early nineteenth century, workers who built it, and its construction are shown in extraordinary detail. Some of the photographs will be published in the Grant Amherst Business Association’s upcoming Book, A Pictorial History of Black Rock, Buffalo, New York, that will be released this fall.

The exhibition opens on August 3, 2018 at Argus Gallery, 1896 Niagara Street, Buffalo, New York, next to the Black Rock Historical Society Museum. The exhibition continues through August 31, 2018. Gallery hours are Thursday, 5 – 8pm, Friday, 11 – 3pm, and Saturday, 11 – 3pm. The event is free and open to the public.
